The Entrepreneur
Dean Kermit Allison has an amazing sculpture called “The Entrepreneur.” Anybody that has considered making a company knows the exact feeling this statue expresses.
Yet. How much of creating something new is, as the statue suggests, “brought to life by sheer will?” Not much, I imagine. Entrepreneurs do what they do because it needs doing. The things they create need to exist, and the person doing the creating is merely following the design. A more religious way of saying this is that God wills creation, and the person doing the creating is merely the vessel.
Either way, making something new is hard. I guess it should be hard. Nothing worthwhile is easy.
